Brazilian dances


Afro The enslaved Africans brought their dances and music from home to Brazil. Even in slavery they tried to preserve traditions and culture of their people.

Afro is a combination of different ethnical tendencies into one whole. Its the African energy with the elements of Indian culture integrated into it.

This dance embodies perception of the world. The dancer through body movements transmits the history of his ancestors, the state of the outer world and his perception of what is happening. History, faith, traditions - all is intertwined and presented in symbols.

Complicated elements are changed by repeated movements, they emphasise the rhythm of the music. Rhythm and body language work inseparably together.
